  • Our providers offer comprehensive primary care and chronic disease management.

    Our Senior Health First physicians and nurse practitioners are geriatric trained and look forward to serving the unique health care needs of older adults. Our providers see patients at two Senior Health First locations including St. Anthony Medical Campus in Lakewood and at 84th Avenue Health Center (formerly St. Anthony North Hospital) in Westminster.

  • Dr. Erika AltneuDr. Altneu sees patients at:

    Dr. Erika Altneu received her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Connecticut. She completed her Internal Medicine Internship and residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Upon graduation, she completed subspecialty training in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Colorado. She is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. In addition, she is a member of the American Geriatric Society.

    Dr. Altneu believe it is important to focus on improving quality of life, while helping patients and their families through difficult healthcare decisions.

     

    Dr. luis Amador Senior HealthDr. Luis Felipe Amador sees patients at:

    Dr. Luis Felipe Amador received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Puerto Rico. He also earned his medical degree in Puerto Rico from the University Central Del Caribe. Dr. Amador completed an internal medicine degree at the University of Southern Illinois and a two year Geriatric fellowship at Duke University in North Carolina.

    Dr. Amador believes in treating his patients as “I would want to be treated, always respecting their wishes and goals.” His areas of clinical interest are in the prevention of disability, polypharmacy, and hypertension. Dr. Amador is fluent in both Spanish and English.

    When not treating patients, Dr. Amador enjoys hiking, racquetball, and photography. He is happily married and has a daughter.

     

    Dr. Thomas CainDr. Thomas Cain sees patients at:

    Dr. Thomas Cain received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Illinois. He earned his medical degree from the Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He served his Internal Medicine residency at Boston City Hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts and Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. After graduation, he remained in Chicago and furthered his education with a geriatric fellowship at the Northwestern University Medical School.

    Dr. Cain is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. He is also a member of the American Geriatric Society. When treating patients, Dr. Cain always strives to blend the medical picture with the patient’s input to arrive at decisions that are medically sound and reflect a partnership.

    In his spare time, Dr. Cain likes to swim, ski, and travel with his wife and two sons.

     

    Dr. Elena ChertkovaDr. Elena Chertkova sees patients at:

    Dr. Elena Chertkova received her medical degree from Pavlov St. Petersburg State Medical University, graduating with highest honors. She completed her residency in family medicine at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

    Dr. Chertkova believes in treating the whole patient while emphasizing their quality of life and independence whenever possible. 

    Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Chertkova is fluent in both English and Russian. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering at her kids’ school, skiing and camping.

     

    Dr. Jane KimDr. Jane Kim sees patients at:

    Jane Kim, MD received her bachelor's degree in molecular biology at Princeton University and her medical degree at the University of Kentucky. She completed her family medicine residency and geriatrics fellowship in Phoenix, Arizona. 

    Dr. Kim is board-certified in both family medicine and geriatrics and has been a geriatrician for more than 10 years. She strives to deliver the type of care to her patients that she would want for her own family members. She believes in maximizing quality of life while minimizing medications and unnecessary interventions.

    When she is not practicing medicine, Dr. Kim enjoys skiing, hiking, reading, and spending time with her husband and son.

     

    Dr. James MartauDr. James Martau sees patients at:

    Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. James Martau received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in Lewisberg, Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He earned his medical doctorate from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. 

    Dr. Martau served his internal medicine residency at Akron City Hospital, Ohio. He furthered his education by completing a geriatric fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, in Denver.

    Dr. Martau is also an active medical leader. He has been a member of the Primary Physician Partners, IPA since 2000 and joined the Physician Health Partners Board of Directors in 2014. 

    Dr. Kerry MooreDr. Kerry Moore sees patients at:

    Dr. Kerry Moore received her undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul Minnesota. She earned her medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals. 

    Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Moore believes in always partnering with her patients and their families to improve their quality of life and prevent hospitalizations through optimized health care.

    When she is not in the office, Dr. Moore enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending quality time with her children and her crazy dog.

     

    Dr. Mitchel RossmanDr. Mitchel Rossman sees patients at:

    Mitchel G. Rossman, MD received his undergraduate degree from Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He served his Internal Medicine residency at the Staten Island Hospital in Staten Island, New York.

    Dr. Rossman is dedicated to keeping seniors vital and active. He believes exercise and diet are an important part of any successful program. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, Dr. Rossman is a member of the American Geriatric Society.

    When he is not treating patients, Dr. Rossman enjoys spending his free time skiing, backpacking and mountain biking.

    Dr. Janna VerMillerDr. Janna Ver Miller sees patients at:

    Dr. Janna Ver Miller received her bachelor of liberal arts and her medical degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and a geriatrics fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. 

    Dr. Ver Miller is board-certified in both internal medicine and geriatric medicine. Dr. Ver Miller feels it is important to include the patient and their family in health care decision making. She seeks to approach the whole person in their care, including their physical, psychological, spiritual and emotional health. 

    Away from the office, Dr. Ver Miller enjoys outdoor activities such as running and hiking with her husband and three sons.

     

  • Nurse Practioners

  • Donna Ellsworth, NPDonna Ellsworth is a certified Geriatric Nurse Practitioner with 20 years of direct patient care experience. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.  Donna earned her Masters of Science in Gerontological Nursing from Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York.

    When treating her patients, Donna believes working collaboratively with her senior patients and their designated family members in their care. Her goal is to help her patients maintain their highest degree of independence, keeping them in their homes and communities for as long as possible. 

    As a result of her geriatric training, Donna specializes in working with older adult patients, ages 60 and older. She enjoys dementia care, chronic disease management, wound care, routine preventive care and advance care planning.

    In her spare time, Donna enjoys vacations with her family, hiking, snow shoeing, cycling and gardening.

    Leslie McCowan, NP

    Leslie McCowan sees patients at:

    Leslie is a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner currently practicing at the St. Anthony Senior Health Center. She received her BSN at The University of Northern Colorado and completed the Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Colorado.

    She has dedicated over twenty years to geriatric healthcare, specifically in long –term care, hospice care and now, outpatient geriatric care. At the St. Anthony Senior Health Center, Leslie is directing and implementing the self Management Support Program and leads the Diabetic group.

    Leslie has had a life long passion for all forms of insightful art. She has studied watercolor painting, drawing, and beading for over ten years. Most recently, she is offering art classes that assist in gaining insight when dealing with self care skills and managing chronic disease.

    Tricia Vath, AGNP

    Tricia Vath sees patients at:

    Tricia Vath is a board-certified Gerontological Nurse Practitioner who began her nursing training at the University of Maryland. She graduated with honors receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a registered nurse primarily in intensive care units for the next 10 years. While working as a critical care nurse, she developed a love of caring for older adults.  

    Tricia decided to further her education and received a Master of Science in the Geriatric Nurse Practitioner program at University of Colorado. She has been a part of the health care team at Senior Health First since 2012. Tricia resides in Evergreen, CO with her husband and three children.  Outside of the office, she enjoys skiing, playing tennis, and reading.
